Flash guide · Method 2 of 5
Flash via SD card
~5 min Easy X3 (locked or unlocked)
X3 only
The button combo in step 3 is X3-only. On a locked X4, skip to the OTA Unlocker method instead — the X3 SD trick does not engage from X4 stock firmware.
Steps
- 1
Copy the firmware's update.bin to the SD card root (not a subfolder).
- 2
Insert the SD card into the device and plug in USB for power.
- 3
On the X3: hold the left-side button + power button together until the OEM bootloader screen appears.
- 4
The device detects update.bin and flashes automatically. This installs firmware but does not re-enable USB flashing.
Troubleshooting
Device boots normally, doesn't flash
update.bin may be in a subfolder. It must be at the root. Also check it's named exactly update.bin, not firmware.bin or update (1).bin.
Button combo does nothing on X4
This combo only works on the X3 from stock. For a locked X4, use the OTA Unlocker.
Device doesn't have CrossPoint 1.3.0+ yet
SD-card updates via the in-app SD path require CrossPoint 1.3.0 (PR #1786). Get CrossPoint installed via OTA Unlocker first.
Flash completes but device won't boot
Hold power 5–10s to force reboot. If it remains stuck, the update.bin may be corrupt — re-download and retry.
