AvesO3

v1.3.1 · MIT

For AO3 fanfiction readers

X3 partial support X4 supported Risk: High

Best for: Heavy Archive of Our Own readers with an unlocked X4.

  • An AO3-styled library browser with per-fic status icons (unread / reading / waiting / new chapter / finished).
  • Checks AO3 for and downloads new chapters on-device over WiFi, no PC or sync tool needed.
  • Pin longfics to the homescreen so oneshots don’t bury them.
  • Built on CrossPoint’s reading engine, so the core reading experience is solid.

via web flasher (unlocked X4 only)

AvesO3 runs on the Xteink X4 (X3 partial). The install is 3 steps via web flasher (unlocked X4 only), start to finish:

  1. 1

Download firmware.bin from the AvesO3 releases page.

  2. 2

Connect an unlocked X4 by USB-C and open xteink.dve.al.

  3. 3

Flash the .bin. To revert: flash official firmware, or "Swap boot partition" at xteink.dve.al/debug.

First flash? The mechanics are the same across every fork. Compare the five flashing methods on the directory, or follow the step-by-step flash CrossPoint without panicking guide.

AvesO3 is a high-risk flash. Settle two things before you touch the flasher: whether your Xteink shipped locked, and how you'd get back.

Locked devices & AvesO3

Requires an unlocked X4: flashing via the unlocker tool is untested, and X3 support is unverified. Single-maintainer and very new, with Issues disabled.

Not sure if your unit is locked? Read the locked-device safety brief, or the full locked vs unlocked buying guide.

How to revert AvesO3

For AvesO3: To revert: flash official firmware, or use "Swap boot partition" at xteink.dve.al/debug.

On an unlocked Xteink you have three ways back:

  1. 1Re-flash stock. The same web flasher offers official Xteink firmware.
  2. 2Restore a backup. “Write full flash from file” brings back the exact prior state, if you saved one first.
  3. 3Swap boot partition. A quick rollback at xteink.dve.al/debug.

On a locked unit there is no USB safety net. That is why locked devices stick to CrossPoint/CrossInk.

The one caveat: Very new, single-maintainer, Issues disabled. Requires an UNLOCKED device — flashing via the unlocker tool is untested. X3 is unverified.
